Let’s be honest, it’s not a proper work Christmas party without a few questionable indiscretions. The most common of which seems to be hooking up with a colleague after a few too many cordials.
But if you've found yourself guilty of this classic faux pas and you’re already formulating your letter of resignation, pop a Berocca and relax. You could actually be onto a good thing.
In a survey of 2000 UK workers, Instant Print found that 54% of people who coupled up at the office Christmas party ended up in a long-term relationship. And a third of those are still together a year on.
So if you’ve had your eye on that certain someone, this festive season might be the perfect time to make your move.
Statistics back up your chances too. Research found that among couples who married between 2005 and 2012, meeting at work was the second most common way to find a partner.
And if the Instant Print survey results are anything to go by, HR won’t be lucid enough to notice. A shocking 40% of HR employees have considered handing in their notice post-party because of something embarrassing they did or said.
