We all know the benefits of keeping hydrated but there’s one time of day you should be laying off the liquid gold – just before bed.
Dietician and nutrition expert Erin Palinski-Wade told Eat This Not That, “If you drink too much before bed, you may find yourself waking up multiple times in the middle for the night to urinate.”
You should aim to drink two litres of water per day, but Palinski-Wade recommends you stop guzzling roughly three hours before you hit the hay. This way your body should be able to process it in time for you to get a solid, uninterrupted sleep.
Numerous studies have shown how important it is to get seven to nine hours of sleep per night, as well as the significant impacts sleep deprivation can have on your overall health. So it makes sense to avoid liquid late at night and ensure your sleep goes as smoothly as possible.
