Sharing an armrest with a Hollywood actress on a long-haul flight sounds like a dream come true, right? Well, when that celeb is Jennifer Lawrence, it’s probably more of a nightmare.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 27-year-old opened up about her fear of flying, confessing that she suffers from extreme “plane anxiety.”
“I’m not afraid of the aeroplane, I’m afraid of me, on the airplane and losing control of myself,” she explained.
In fact, her nerves are so severe it’s led to some pretty embarrassing situations… Like the time she screamed that the plane was gonna crash mid-trip:
“You know when they hit an air pocket and it feels like you’re falling? I did it on a night flight one time: ‘We’re going down! It’s coming down!’”
And then there was the awkward incident where she tried to jump out of an Air France jet.
“I can’t believe I didn’t get arrested,” she said. “I got really claustrophobic and I had to get out.”
In her defence, the Mother! star did have a major scare earlier this year when her private plane suffered double-engine failure and had to make an emergency landing. Thankfully, no one was injured.
But considering J-Law once said listening to Beyoncé makes her feel “calm and centred,” we’re prescribing she play Lemonade on repeat next time she travels. Hey, if anyone has the power to keep a plane airborne it’s undoubtedly Queen B!
