The topic that particularly piqued our interest? Her diet and exercise regime. And boy, it couldn’t be further from her famous fathers.
While the president has a long-standing love affair with Diet coke and junk food, Ivanka is far more health-conscious. Although in an interview with Eat This, the 37-year-old admitted this wasn’t always the case. In fact, she used to eat “like a teenager.” Think carbs three times a day “usually in the form of pizza or pasta.”
"I tried a juice cleanse, and it was a total disaster,” she added. “For the eight hours that I lasted, I felt like I was on the brink of starvation.”
Then, after falling pregnant with her daughter Arabella in 2011, she completely kicked carbs to the curb.
"For me, it's about making the right choices,” she explained, adding that her diet now focuses on whole grains and foods high in protein and good fats. “Slowly, I started to actually enjoy, if not crave, these healthier options. Now healthy eating is the norm for me, especially at breakfast and lunch.”
The mum-of-three likes to start the day with hot water and lemon, followed by a cup of coffee and her (e.g. Greek yoghurt, berries and cottage cheese with “all sorts of toppings - chia seeds, berries, flaxseed, goji berries, cinnamon, walnuts, and almonds.”)
Lunch and dinner is usually a variation of salmon, chicken or salad. And although she considers herself a “savoury girl” her cheat meal of choice is strawberry ice cream.
When it comes to keeping fit, Ivanka’s big on the cardio bandwagon and is often seen jogging around her neighbourhood or popping into a spin class.
"I go out with my husband every Saturday morning — we'll run for an hour and we'll just chat. It's an amazing time for the two of us as well," she said.
