For the new Savage x Fenty “Free Spirit” lingerie launch, the musician-turned-fashion pioneer channeled her inner Brigitte Bardot with a new hairstyle that featured one trend we didn’t expect to be making a comeback this early: curtain bangs.
Just recently, Rihanna had been rocking a mullet and started something of a renaissance of the choppy, longer-in-the-back style that proved a unisex sensation. Now though, the singer has traded it for something a little more sophisticated and sensual. She captioned the Instagram post: “savage af. Don’t trip.”
Another post on the Savage X Fenty page included a close-up shot of Rihanna, showcasing the new hairstyle in something of a psychedelic campaign video. Her hair appears longer than unusual, and even features a hint of red-toned brunette at certain angles.
It’s yet another transformation for Rihanna, but not an entirely new departure for the star.
The singer previously wore her hair in a similar style in 2005, but that’s really diving back deep into the history books. Much like Friends fans wanted the Rachel cut, it seems Rihanna’s new ‘do will spawn a revival of the curtain bangs.
