With no need for equipment or weights, your options for excuses get dramatically cut. It’s a lot easier to exercise when you feel comfortable with your environment and that’s what bodyweight training does – it gives you the choice to train whenever, wherever you please. Whether that’s by the beach, in your living room or outside under a tree at the local park. Gyms can be intimidating, crowded and boring. Bodyweight training is done on your terms.
2. Time efficient
The beauty of bodyweight training is the ability to combine strength-based exercises with exercises that will get your heart pumping and work on your cardio too – all at the same time. Two birds, one stone. Think burpees, working your arms, chest and legs, while getting a serious sweat on.
3. Financially viable
Gym memberships aren’t always cheap these days. Bodyweight training means you don’t need a gym. Get outdoors, fresh air, under the sun and get in a killer workout that costs you nothing, without the need of even buying equipment!
4. Injury prevention
Because you are using your body in movement patterns it should be moved in, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all machine, your body is moving in a way that is natural without something else forcing it into movement patterns your body may not want to go in. This style of training also improves mobility and flexibility which is a key ingredient for injury prevention.
I have found that bodyweight training is a lot more enjoyable than being at the gym lifting weights. For one, you can constantly change your environment which always helps to keep things interesting. Rather than seeing the same faces, machines and listening to the same music at the gym, you decide where you are training in the place that makes you happy! Not only is the environment ever-changing if you wish, but with so many different exercises to do, you’ll never get bored of your routine! For example there is well over 80 different push up variations... if you're game.
