One day you’re rocking your distressed denim like Britney circa early 2000 and the next you’re so damn puffy you feel like a sausage stuffed into its casing. Ah, the joys of bloating. The silver lining? Everyone experiences it – even women with insanely ripped rigs, as fitness influencer Steph Claire Smith just revealed on Instagram.

In the post, the 25-year-old shares two side-by-side photos of herself in trackies and a workout top. In one, her abs are clearly defined; in the other, her stomach is fully distended.

“Guess what. We bloat. We fluctuate. We’re puffy one day and feeling like lean beans the next. That’s life,” she wrote in the caption, adding that her period was due the next day.

“I’ve been more bloated than usual, looking like the left photo when I’m relaxed all day, and snacking like crazy because it’s what my body wants every month.”

She encouraged her followers to not let a little bloating stress them out or question their fitness journey (unless it’s happening all the time, obvs.)

“No matter where you’re sitting, even in your healthy weight range you will fluctuate. That’s the beauty of the body. Go along for the ride ???????? ,” she explained. “Right photo, absolutely not relaxed… but proud my efforts are still under there.”

In the comments, Steph got all kinds of praise for being so candid.

“Going through this right now (and looking like the left as well!),” one follower wrote. “Such a good reminder not to be hard on myself or my body.”

“Always loving the realness,” another added.
