As the leading authority on all things colour, each year Pantone analyse the hottest trends in interiors, fashion and culture to predict the one hue that will trump the lot.
In 2016 they chose not one, but two tones: Rose Quartz and Serenity.
In 2017, it was the “revitalising” (aka, kinda underwhelming) shade Greenery.
2018, saw the divisive Ultra Violet take out top spot.
And for 2019, they’ve announced that the Colour of the Year will officially be: PANTONE 15-1546 Living Coral.
Over on their website, Pantone described it as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”
“Social and spirited, the engaging nature of Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity,” they said, adding that the colour also symbolises our “innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits” and “embodies our desire for playful expression.”
While we’re yet to see evidence of the above, one thing’s for certain: we best start clearing the closet and get our hands on a Living Coral coloured workout kit, quick smart.
