Until now, society has seemingly been separated into two distinct camps: the doomsday preppers (of which I am the president) and those who aren’t so easily influenced by other people’s toilet paper purchases.

But allow us to introduce you to the three new pandemic personality types, courtesy of researchers at King’s College in London (in conjunction with Ipsos MORI, a market research firm).

After questioning 2,250 individuals – both male and female – between the ages of 18-75, the team established some clear patterns in terms of how people are processing the crisis. 48 per cent are ‘accepting’ it, 44 per cent are ‘suffering’ because of it, while 9 per cent are actively ‘resisting’ it.

Breaking it down further, only 12 per cent of those in the accepting group have experienced sleep issues since the coronavirus outbreak began, with 87 per cent of people following the rules set out by the Government most of the time. In comparison, 93 per cent of the suffering group are anxious and depressed with 70 per cent believing that the Government responded to the virus “too slowly.”

As for the resisting group? It’s mostly made up of younger males who are much less inclined to adhere to social distancing (41 per cent have already met up with friends or family.)
