According to a study in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, we’re way more likely to climax during ovulation. Reason being? The clitoris swells by up to 15-20 per cent at this time, making it heaps easier to tap into our sexual desire.
Using ultrasound equipment, Italian researchers measured the clitoris of 24 women aged between 18-35. They also looked at the artery that feeds blood into the organ, which is responsible for increasing libido.
After taking measurements at the beginning, middle and end of each participant’s menstrual cycle, they found that on day 14 (the average day of ovulation), the clitoris became bigger and more engorged. Plus, the clitoral artery was less restricted, allowing more blood to pump there in preparation for the Big O.
Kinda cool that on a biological level, our bits basically beg us to have sex during ovulation (coz, prime op for baby-making.) The wonder of the human body, eh?!
