As Amanda Mull writes in a piece for the Atlantic (aptly entitled, The Saddest Leafy Green,) Google trend searches for the ‘It’ vegetable of the decade have taken a nosedive over the past 12 months. The exception? January – presumably thanks to health-nuts going HAM on their NY’s resolutions. In-store, sales have also experienced a steady decline. Now, they’re as low as they were before Gwyneth Paltrow introduced us to the concept of kale chips (iconic).
Understandably, the Twittersphere is thrilled by the news:

Honestly, we’re not surprised: we’ve known for a while that kale isn’t *actually* that good for us. A 2014 Centres for Disease Control study ranked it the15th healthiest leafy green. Then, this year, kale made it onto the Dirty Dozen list, meaning the Environmental Working group (EWG) reckons it’s one of the most pesticide-ridden vegetables you can buy.
Despite these stats, some sickos aren’t ready to goodbye:
