In case you’re a little vague on the whole new moon thing, here’s a recap: In astronomy, a new moon happens when the earth lines up with the sun, making the moon all but invisible from Earth. There are 12 new moons a year, and each is linked up with a different zodiac sign.
Since this new moon is happening in the sign of Scorpio, it’s going to cause some serious mental breakthroughs on your end, says certified astrology Donna Page. Of course, there’s more to it than that (because Scorpios, amirite?). Here’s what else you can expect:

This new moon is all about embracing change and shaking things up, Page says. If you’re down with that kind of stuff, then, sweet! But if you crave consistency, you could be in for a rocky ride.

During this time, try your absolute best to be flexible when it comes to new experiences. "Be open to changing your life, even if you don’t know how it’s going to turn out," Page says. "Sometimes, it’s important to just try something out and do something different in order to be able to move forward."
Maybe you’ll suddenly score that job offer you thought was out of reach and will need to start training ASAP, or you’ll have a massive work project come out of nowhere that will put you up for a huge raise. Just know that you kinda-maybe-totally need to be on your A-game during this time. If you haven’t prepped for potential change, the new moon can throw you for a loop, Page says.
On the relationship front, you’ll crave something different. "Just shake things up," Page says. "You’re not going to like everything, but you won’t know until you try." Wise words for the bedroom...just saying.
At the same time, you’ll want to experience a whole new level of openness in your 'ship. Just don’t get too caught up in the little things, like wondering why your S.O. always takes his phone to the bathroom. The answer is more likely that he simply enjoys checking social media while doing his thing vs. OMG, he’s totally cheating!!! (Remember, fam: Deep. Breaths.)
The New Moon in Scorpio will affect every zodiac sign, but Page says Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius will feel it the most.
How will the New Moon in Scorpio affect the rest of your year?
It depends on how you approach it, mkay? If you’re willing to change and check out new things that crop up for you, you might find yourself suddenly on a different path in life—one that turns out to be waaaay better than the one you were on before.
But, if you freak out over the different (and, yes, slightly scary) opps that come your way, you might end up feeling a little…stuck, in the long run.
Relationship-wise, trying out new things with your partner can help freshen up your love life. And, really, you can’t go wrong with that.
When is the next new moon?
The next new moon is on November 26, in Sagittarius. This new moon will make you feel optimistic (yesss) and more likely to feel like stuff will be okay, even when you’re going through serious sh*t.
