Kayla Itsines Gets Brutally Honest About Her Insecurities During Pregnancy

As a quick scroll through her Insta feed will attest, Kayla Itsines has that unmistakable, infectious glow of a doting mama-to-to be. But the fitness guru is the first to admit that her pregnancy hasn’t exactly been a joy ride.

Taking to Instagram, the 27-year-old, who is expecting her first child with her partner Tobi Pearce in May, admitted to her 11mil followers that motherhood had already started to take its toll on her mind and body.

Ladies, real talk. Each of us internalise SO many thoughts and conversations, some of which are really hard. From the outside looking in, it's impossible to see what other people are thinking and feeling. I wanted to touch on this topic and talk about something that I am currently going through. How many of you ACTUALLY like/liked being pregnant during all stages of pregnancy? I honestly feel so lucky to be a woman and be able to bring new life into the world. It's incredible what the female body can handle and continue to be amazed how my body is growing and changing to. I am so excited to finally be meeting her SOON..but have I enjoyed being pregnant? As a trainer and someone who enjoys being very active, initially I struggled with the concept of not training and doing the things I'm used to. I also had so many different internal conversations that relate to this journey that I am sure the #BBGmums out there can relate to. There is so much uncertainty with pregnancy, especially if its your first time and for me this is. Thinking "What will my body feel like AFTER I give birth?" "When will I be able to train again and feel comfortable?" "Will everything be ok?". I love my baby body and am so grateful to have had such a life changing experience. It's opened my eyes and allowed me to see things from a different perspective. But ladies, it's been a mentally, physically and emotionally challenging time in my life and I am sure all women with children or who are soon to have, can relate. Am I excited to get back to training the way I love? As soon as I have clearance from my doctor, YES absolutely. Not only for my sake but to give my baby girl a STRONG, FIT and HEALTHY role model from day one. I am so grateful for this journey and look forward to all stages of it, but the important message i'm trying to send here is that everyone goes through these emotions regardless of whether they relate to pregnancy or not. The feeling of uncertainty or insecurity or even a little fear. As a trainer, and someone who leads an exceptionally active lifestyle, Kayla explained that she initially struggled with having to scale back her workout regime. Let alone with all the unknowns that go hand-in-hand with parenthood.

“There is so much uncertainty with pregnancy, especially if it’s your first time and for me this is. Thinking ‘What will my body feel like AFTER I give birth?’ ‘When will I be able to train again and feel comfortable?’ ‘Will everything be ok?’.”

And while she is embracing the changes in her body and looks forward to all that’s left to come, Kayla said the journey had been a “mentally, physically and emotionally challenging” one so far.

“Am I excited to get back to training the way I love? As soon as I have clearance from my doctor, YES absolutely,” she added. “Not only for my sake but to give my baby girl a STRONG, FIT and HEALTHY role model from day one.”

Her intention with this post? To let anyone who is struggling privately to know that it’s OK to feel anxious about the future.

MUFFIN UPDATE 😁😂 10.5 weeks difference in these two photos! I literally CANNOT believe how fast my little muffin is growing 😍 I have been told she's a "big baby" measuring in the high 80's in percentile BUT I've had many people tell me this was also the case for them and their baby was average size 😁.... whatever, as long as she's healthy and happy I don't mind. The only thing I'm probably not enjoying right now is the fact that my torso is SO TINY, she has her little feet under my ribs 😋 I did my gestational diabetes test and all that and everything has come back perfect 😁 Ladies, I hope, even if you are not pregnant or have kids, that you are learning from my page! 💛💛 www.kaylaitsines.com/app

“Everyone goes through these emotions regardless of whether they relate to pregnancy or not,” she said. “The feeling of uncertainty or insecurity or even a little fear. The most important thing to remember here is it's not just about the hard times and hard conversations you have internally, but it’s how you deal [with] it,” she concluded.
