It was devastating, but there is a glimmer of hope to be salvaged from the announcement. After the reports swirling about their breakup and called off engagement, the pair has now released a statement to People to restore our faith in love, saying their plans are to stay together.
“We are working through some things,” the couple said in their joint statement.
A source close to the couple told the publication that the star couple never actually broke up. They said: “They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up. She’s working in the Dominican Republic and he’s in Miami so it’s tough seeing each other especially with quarantine and COVID, but they want to try to stay together.”
The couple got engaged in the Bahamas in March 2019 after dating for two years, and over the past year had been forced to postpone their wedding date twice due to the pandemic. Rumours of their breakup first started when it was reported A-Rod had an affair with Madison LeCroy of Southern Charm. LeCroy has since said the pair had “never met”. In an interview with Page Six, the reality star claimed they had spoken on the phone, but that such chats were innocent and they were just acquaintances.
Last month, JLo told Allure that the couple had been going to therapy. “I miss being creative and running on 150,” she said. “But Alex, of all people, was like, ‘I love it. I love being at home. I love doing my Zooms. I love knowing the kids are there, and you’re there all the time.’ It has been actually really good.”
“We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy,” she said. “I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship.”
So, here’s hoping the couple does work things out as to see this romance end would be a devastating blow.
