Before my fitness journey, I would go through phases of excessive cardio then give up when I saw no results. I drank too much alcohol, ate too much take away and binged on chocolate and lollies. I mostly did no exercise, ate takeaway a couple of nights, and had a cheese platter on a Friday night with a few drinks.
I was unhappy with myself for a long time. But the key turning point for me was when I was holidaying in Byron Bay in 2018 and didn’t want to get into a bikini at the beach. I thought enough is enough, it’s time to do something about it.
I began my health journey after I saw an ad of Instagram for Bodies by Rachel (now Move with Us) and decided I’d give it my all for 8 weeks and see how I go. I was hooked after the first week.
I started at 1500 calories and worked up to 2100. High protein, moderate carbs and fats. I still had a treat every day. Fitness was training 6 days a week - 3 x lower body, 1 x upper body and 1 x full body.
Going from nothing to full training was hard, my muscles were constantly sore. Fitting it all in with kids was a challenge at first, now it’s just a non-negotiable part of my life.
I lost 7kg in the first 8-week challenge! I’ve been training and tracking my food for 3 years now. It’s amazing how looking after yourself changes all aspects of your life.
My advice to other women who want to start it can’t find the motivation would be to put some time and effort in for yourself and watch how much your life changes. Don’t aim to be perfect, no one is. Just take it day by day, try your best and don’t give up.
I always say time is going to pass any way, you can either stay the same in 6-12 months or be proud of your achievements and be rocking your dream body.
