Hilary Duff Has Shared Intimate Photos Of Incredible Home Birth

The actor welcomed her third child in March in a delivery that took place at home.

The miracle of childbirth is one unique to the individual. Whether it’s your first pregnancy or third, each deliver contains new joy, surprises, and equal amounts stress and nervousness. When Hilary Duff welcomed her third child into the world, a baby girl named Mae James Blair, she felt all these things and more. When you throw a global pandemic into the mix, you can only imagine that things become more stressful, clouded with uncertainty. But in moving images, Duff has shared the incredible home birth that took place in March as she shared more details about the delivery with her fans.

In the images, Duff is shown sitting on top of an exercise ball and holding onto the post of her bed to stead herself with a determined expression. Some images even depict husband Matthew Koma, alongside doula Molly, who stayed by Duff’s side and provided encouragement, support and brought different energies to the birth experience.

As Duff explained, “My hubby is the most calm anchor in the room when I feel like climbing the walls and my little Molly is an extraordinary doula who sat with me when I needed to be still and quiet.” She also added that her own mum was on hand with support. “My own mama was there to make all the snacks and watch with a big nervous smile as her baby brings her a new grand baby earthside. The help that I have to support my other children while I am not able is maybe the most comforting thought of all. All hands on deck. Forever lol,” said Duff.

In one of the images, a board of inspiration can be seen balancing on top of a bath tub. Featuring the names of Duff’s two other children, Luca and Banks, the board contains different words of positivity and affirmations that no doubt helped during childbirth. The photos shared by Duff don’t just highlight the beautiful nature of childbirth, but show the strength and emotion that mums have to go through such an experience.

“This is hard work…every way a woman brings a baby in is. from getting pregnant, to c-sections, hospital or home births, the breast feeding journey…and raising these little beings responsibly to be stand up, confident, kind citizens of the world. It’s completely consuming. A tedious, magical, miraculous adventure…So cheers alright mothers. You make mountains move daily,” wrote Duff.
