Lisa Young is the female winner of F45’s most recent 8 Week Challenge, which sees participants take part in the franchise’s 45 minute combination of functional and high-intensity interval training alongside a tailored eating program.
The 25-year-old Melbourne-native told Women’s Health that her win was totally unexpected.
“I said to myself at the start of the year that I was going to focus on my health more and I joined F45 and then the challenge came along and I thought well that’s a good opportunity to test myself.”
She said she’s previously tried regular gym training on her own, but F45 was completely different.
“It’s really good you just go in and it’s done in 45 minutes, you don’t have to think about it,” she said.
“There’s always someone there pushing you as well which is really good for me otherwise I just don’t do it.”
Lisa said the first two weeks were the hardest but she eventually adjusted, sticking to the meal plan and training six times a week.
“That was the detox part of the diet so I had to cut out everything pretty much, sugar, coffee – all that.”
“I just have a very big fear of failing at things so I just didn’t want to start something and not finish it, or start something and do it half arsed.”
And she certainly didn’t – Lisa leaned up and lost seven kilograms, but the most impressive results were mental rather than physical.
“My energy levels are 100 times better now and it definitely improved my mental health, I’m much happier. If someone told me that it would help that, I wouldn’t have believed them but it really does.”
