In every relationship there are certain unspoken rules you abide by unless you want to feel your partner’s wrath. e.g., the person who cooks, is relieved of washing duties. The last one to bed turns off the lights. And - the biggie – you sleep on the same (predetermined) side of the bed each night. Pretty standard, no?! That is, unless, your name is Steve O’Rouke, an Irishman who is currently getting roasted on social media for admitting that he and his gf like to mix up their sleeping situation.
You see, Steve’s colleagues cottoned onto this bizarre arrangement and, naturally, they were not OK with it. So, he took to Twitter to get a second opinion.
“We were just chatting in work and apparently it's weird that Amy and I don't sleep on the same side of the bed every night. Some nights I like to sleep by the window, some nights the door. It's not really that unusual, is it?” he asked.
“Feel like I need to point out the following.
- First one in chooses
- We’ve never disagreed over it
- We move pillows and books as we move
- We don’t change every single night
- Neither of us are aliens"
Of course, the Twittersphere had a LOT of opinions on the matter.
Which prompted Steve to respond with: “You don’t have a side of the couch, or a set seat at the table. Just adding an extra resting place.” Yeah, nah.
Obviously though, this is all in good fun. In fact, a few people even praised the couple for their excellent negotiation skills.
