“Looking back, it was a very horrific time,” she said in a new interview with Stellar.
“It definitely took a toll on my body. It was heartbreaking. I thought, ‘What more can be taken from me?’”
Instead of giving in to her immense grief, Candice made the active decision to “power on” and become the “strength and rock” her two young daughters – Indi Rae, four, and Ivy Mae, two - needed. She even convinced her husband David, who was struggling to get out of bed each day, to embark on a new health and fitness regime.

“The girls loved having Daddy all the time. Doing all those things he usually missed out on doing because of cricket. We cherished having him at home. We hadn’t had those days ever. We made the most of it, having quality time as a family.”
Taking time out together helped fast-track the healing process and today, Candice says their lives “couldn’t be any better.” The couple even welcomed a new addition four months ago – a baby girl called Isla.
“David and I now look at each other and say, ‘How did we get through that?’” she continued. “But we did. We now know for sure that nothing will ever break us.”
“For us, life is about family and we are so blessed to have three healthy girls. We are a very solid unit. We are a team.”
